Angelica took the boys to the beach one day while she was here in Progreso. The beaches in the Yucatan can be very amazing during the right times of year, from June to October. However, once the Nortes start blowing in the fall, the water close to shore will start to lose its brightness. People do swim in the warm water of the Gulf all winter.
The Malecon in Progreso has recently opened a new section connecting the old Malecon with the fishing pier and the new Malecon to the west. This is a great spot to go for exercise or bike rides. We are always riding our bikes along the Malecon in Progreso. You can see some kiteboarding in the background of some of the pictures. Kiteboarding is a favourite pastime here on the beaches of Progreso and you can always see people flying along on their boards.
