In the fall of 2012 we had the great opportunity to go to the State Fair in Xmatkuil with our friends. We loaded up the vehicles for the short drive from Progreso to the south side of Merida where the fair is located every year. We had been the previous year, but this year it was just me and the boys as Lyn was busy working. We had a great time, but sure did miss her.
Some of the highlights of this years event:
- Watching Mexican families order food from Los Trompos to feed all of us! That was great and very cost efficient. I think Evan ate almost 10 tacos that day – which was a few more than Edgar!
- Seeing the chicken restaurant serving fresh chicken wings with the chicken coops inside the restaurant…
- Learning more about the local items offered at the fair.
- We did miss the circus this year, but will definitely attend this next year. As well, the Coca-Cola castle was supposed to be amazing and we missed it.
I would definitely recommend adding this to a list of things to do while in the Yucatan! It is a fun day out and very inexpensive.
