Evan’s 8th Bday at Progreso Montesorri School

Tags

Evan was lucky enough to celebrate his 8th birthday early on Thursday, March 29th! I say lucky because know he believes that his birthday celebration is for two weeks until his real birthday! Because of the Semana Santa holiday in Mexico (Week of the Saints) the boys are off of school from March 30 and not returning until April 16th and since Evan’s birthday is right in the middle of the holiday, we had the party at school early for him.

This was also a planned pool party day for the kids at the school so it worked out perfectly! The little kids got to play in the portable pools Debbie brought in to the school yard, while the bigger kids (and Noah of course) all got to swim in the big pool in Debbie’s backyard. They also had to put the finishing touches on their Easter Cupcakes on this day so it really added to the birthday celebration.

Evan got the Big Black Bomb Angry Bird pinata this year and it was really quite huge. We found this pinata at the market in Progreso and paid 120 pesos for it ($9.25 CDN). Lyn got very creative and made the Strawberry Pop Cake for his birthday cake which almost every kid loved and some of them actually had 3 or 4 pieces! WE did have a little bit of difficulty with finding whipping cream… we eventually used Media Crema, added sugar and vanilla and tried to make whipping cream – we ended up making a fabulous cream sauce which we poured over every kids piece on top of the vanilla pudding! They loved it :)

You can kind of hear the Pinata Song in the background as the children are swinging their club. If you want to hear this song in full you can find it at this link: Birthday Pinata Song.
