Tae-kwon-do in Progreso

We took the boys to try out Tae-Kwon-Do on Tuesday night to see if they would enjoy it. There is a class for beginners on Tuesday’s, Thursday’s and Saturday mornings and the cost per month is 250 pesos ($19.90 CDN) for 12 classes. Evan & Noah really seemed to enjoy it and will be taking the class for the month of September.

So tonight was the boys first real night of taekwondo with their dobock’s on (their uniform). Noah loved it, Evan fidgeted with his dobock most of the time and we must figure out how to get it ‘fitted’ for his skinny little body! By the end of the hour, they really had caught on to some of the basics and were having a blast. The hour was ended with a game of ‘azul or amarillo’ which has the boys jumping from yellow squares to blue squares at the instructors commands in the correct order he yelled out. Of course this was a great game for all as he shouted out colors and the boys were hopping around trying to land on the right color.

It is one of the few sports available in Progreso for children. We have yet to find a boys soccer team but we know they exist. Driving home was a real treat today, it had been raining for an hour, which means over a foot of water in most streets – the boys loved it! There is a hurricane forming to the north of us, and what has been a calm and windless day, has now brought us rain and lots of it. The water in the pool has risen over 8 inches so far!

Great posts and pictures you guys. Serious Evan and kooky Noah are very photogenic and entertaining. How about some pictures of mom and dad too??
Sounds like you are all having a memorable adventure and learning a lot every day. Lots of interesting information on your blog and I appreciated the lesson in mango slicing. Obviously one needs not only a sharp knife but a BIG knife. Looking forward to seeing your next post. Lots of love and hugs, keep having fun, and take care, Aunt Kim XO
