Busride to Progresso from Centro Merida

We got on the bus to Progreso in downtown Merida at the corner of Calle 64 and 57, white bus auto progreso directo which you have to flag down to make sure the driver stops for you. This bus is a ‘directo’ which basically means it will go direct from centro to Progreso. It does not mean ‘non-stop’ but will stop and let people on at various locations on the drive to Progreso. The cost at the time we rode the bus was 14 pesos ($1.15 CDN) each for the 35 minute ride on a bus similar to our greyhounds.

This bus drops you off near the malecom, the boardwalk, in Progresso and is easy to walk through the markets and streets from there. Many restaurants line the boardwalk and if you choose to sit on the beach, many of them have ‘extended’ their seating area to include any beach space in front of their restaurant. Great spot to sit and people watch.

Beautiful beach. How far is your house from the boardwalk? The palm trees and sand could be Yuma but we are missing the beach and the little huts!

Hmmm, the beautifully manicured and cleaned beach with the huts and palm trees is about a 10 minute walk from our house along the beach. Maybe a little longer with little children and old people!

Derek says in Cancun the sand never gets too hot,(air conditioned sand). Is that how it is at Progresso?
I didn’t know that occured at all. How neat, and I think, how like our creator to care about hot feet.

When we walked on the beach in Progreso, the sand was nice, but it was only 30 degrees out that day! We will see when it gets really hot! I think flip flops will be necessary though.
